Some short and sweet Konqueror file manager tips for your morning:
- Go -> Autostart brings you to the .kde/autostart folder. Drag links to programs to here to start when you first log into KDE. You can also drag links from the KMenu, shortcuts found on the desktop, etc.
- Ctrl-Shift-l (or Window -> Split Right) to split your Konqueror window in half, giving you a left and a right pane to drag files between. See also the other options in the Window menu, like Top/Bottom split and adding tabs.
- #namei (or man:/namei) in the Location toolbar opens up a hyperlinked man page for namei
- ##paste (or info:/paste) in the Location toolbar opens up an Info window for paste. Use ##dir to get the top level Info directory.
- Ctrl-+ *or Edit->Select…) brings up a simple dialog which allows you to select files by using wildcards (’*.txt’ will select all .txt files in the current folder)
- Ctrl-e (or Tools->Execute Shell Command…) lets you type in a one line shell command and displays the output
- Window->Show Terminal Emulator brings up a pane at the bottom of the window with a terminal that follows any folder changes you make in the pane(s) above.

Very cool. Thanks.
Will these tips work with the new KDE file manager, Dolphin?
I haven’t tried KDE4 yet. But I’d be surprised if very many, if any of them even, were missing.
